movement class

General class description:

Classes usually begin with a welcome circle or ‘weather report’ followed by an exploration of a variety of current themes. These may include anatomy, nature, evolutionary, human development, early human & animal references.

Practices for mobilisation, strength-building, locomoting through space, learning about togetherness and touch work are are placed throughout a session to support those current themes.

There is often time given for reflection, talking and dancing as a way to process experiences.

Contemporary/ floor work/ sequences class

I draw on a variety of somatic influences including Bartenieff Fundamentals, various release-based and floor work contemporary dance styles, Body Weather, Ido Portal Method, Tai Chi, and deep nature connection practices.

Sessions consider both high physicality and deep softness which are explored through travelling floor work, movement pattern training and more extroverted material as the class progresses.

Exploration & improvisation class

Class begins with considering the wider context of place and weather,  followed by an exploration of a variety of current themes. These may include references to nature, other animals, mammalian anatomy and hunter/ gatherer imaginings.

There is often time given for reflection, talking and dancing as a way to process experiences.
